Jeff Redmon is a creative professional with a BFA from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. While pursuing his fine art career, he currently works as the Gallery and Artist Residency Director at RedLine Milwaukee, an urban laboratory that seeks to nourish the individual practice of contemporary art and to stimulate the creative potential of the local community to which we are linked. The gallery was recently awarded "Best Gallery" in the city by the Shepherd Express Reader's Poll in 2017 and 2018.
After college Redmon took a position as a graphic designer in the marketing department of a Fortune 500 company, which provided him with a great opportunity to work on a variety of projects ranging from corporate brochures to trade-show booth design. After three years he decided to move on and began working for himself as a designer and fine artist.
Jeff has always had a passion for art. For many years now he has been creating abstract art for exhibition and sales, regularly showing in galleries. He has also had the opportunity to create several large scale murals for public and private clients. Most recently he was commissioned by the company Lululemon to create three custom murals at their Milwaukee location in the Historic Third Ward.
Over the past decade Redmon's unwavering passion for the arts has helped to shape the creative landscape of the city through the conception, promotion and execution of innovative art events. He is a key member of Made In Milwaukee, a cultural advocacy group dedicated to the exposure, growth, and advancement of the local art, music, and business community. He is the co-founder and organizer of BVGN (Bay View Gallery Night) bringing crowds of 10,000+ per event to support and nourish the local art and business community. Redmon was an organizer of Milwaukee’s first ever TEDx event (TEDx Harambee 2013). He is also an organizer and founding member of Arte Para Todos, which brings Milwaukee musicians and artists together to perform in multiple venues across the city to raise funds for school art and music programs. The events in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 have raised $80K with 100% of the money raised going to the cause.
Jeff curates contemporary fine art exhibitions for a variety of gallery and non-gallery settings. A personal highlight came in February of 2015, when he was invited to curate JoAnna Poehlmann’s retrospective exhibition “Now and Then” at RedLine Milwaukee. The exhibition featured nearly 400 works created over a period of fifty years, and it received high praise.
In 2014 Redmon founded CultureJam MKE, a provocative indie art series, showcasing outstanding regional artists challenging dominant notions of the relationship between human beings and their physical and mental environments. To date there have been seven highly regarded CultureJam MKE exhibitions featuring nearly 100 of the areas most talented artists.
Jeff continues to do design and marketing work for a variety of causes while working to make art and connect with others through creativity.
